Sick Policy
To minimize the spread of contagious diseases, children should not attend school if:
- The child has a deep cough or heavy congestion
- The child has a fever (100 degrees or higher - and 24 hours after)
- The child is vomiting or has diarrhea
- The child has pink eye (conjunctivitis) and for 24 hours after receiving medication
The Community Montessori School will notify you whenever the child becomes ill. You should pick-up your child up within one hour.
Parents must inform the Community Montessori School within 24 hours or the next business day after the child or any member of his or her immediate household has developed any reportable communicable disease, as defined by the state Board of Health, except for life threatening diseases which must be reported immediately.
Medication
We can give oral medication to students only if a medication authorization has been filled out and the medicine is in its original container with the prescription label affixed. The label must provide the following information:
- Child's name
- date
- dosage information
Community Montessori School does not administer eye drops or/or ear drops. Sun lotion/cream, diaper ointment/cream, and insect repellent can be applied by the staff, however, a medication authorization must be completed prior to use. Please note: Any medication used over 10 days, requires the doctor's signature.
